In my area we have a non profit volunter run organization that regualy meets with city, state, federal agencies including the Coast Guard about access and safety. They organize safety meetings, end of season parties etc.

+100 Billie! Some Kiters really think it impresses people to come in Close to swimmers and show their Tricks. I got news for Em. People don't give a Rats Butt about some FAN BOY showing off. Same as someone having No baffles in their Motorcycle exhaust or their Car. The only person it impresses is the One making all the Noise !

For some reason, these kooks think that people on the beach give a shit after about 10 seconds. And I think some think that the bikini clad girls are gonna come running out to the water's edge to BEG to blow the guy!

Sitting on the beach overhearing them, they are interested for about 10 seconds then they think the guy is an nice person and showoff for riding so close. NOT impressed at all.

And WTF is it with these kooks who set up RIGHT beside the swim area?

Yesterday at Hanlan's Point beach in Toronto (and all summer for that matter) guys would set up RIGHT BESIDE the swimming and GAY Nude Beach! There was hundreds of meters of open, less populated beach to set up and ride. In fact, I saw some wannabe-Instructor trying to get his uncoordinated buddy up and riding for the first time with a direct on-shore wind with dozens of people on the beach immediately downwind by maybe 50 meters!

+1- We're all physically fit enough to walk a bit farther and avoid the swimmers. Flying your kite over swimmers, pedestrians, kayakers, etc. should be avoided, especially in marginal wind.
