2015 North Whip...wow

Postby Billy B. » Sun Sep 28, 2014 4:04 pm

Sham less North plug......

Go try the New North Whip, I have been riding the 5'6 this year( I got the largest size hoping to replace my nugget for lighter small days) and it just keeps getting more fun, it is like a snowboard for the water, the new CSC shape is sweet for all types of turns, and it just sticks to your feet with the big Tomo nose!

Never in a life time of surfing have I ridden such a veritable board, slash, carve, pivot, smear...what ever turn you want!...

I have not been this excited about a new board since the first Nugget was released!!!

TRY ONE!!!!

Do you think that was the right size for your weight? What's your weight?

Have you ridden the Tomo board also?

Dave,

I weigh 165lbs, I based size the on the liter calculator on the firewire site, since I may (paddle in) surf this board also.

I often buy my play around board a larger size so I can still work the almost chest high "lake surf" we often get here.

I have not tried the smaller sizes, I imagine it only gets better as it gets smaller. I would have got the 5'4" if I was only planning on kiting it. I may get the small one also, I imagine the resale will be great on these things once more people ride them.

I currently have a nugget and a Alaia as my directional play boards, and this one is just as fun in the lighter winds so far!

This is the only Modern Planning Hull, shape I have ridden.

I don't have much experience on these boards, but I've had a few sessions recently on the Pro. From what I can tell they're not hugely different, but the Whip has significantly more volume in the tail, so it'll get you the most power out of smaller waves and will probably work a bit better in light wind, while the Pro will be a little easier to stomp your back foot and sink the tail to make powered carves on bigger waves/more powered situations. Pay more attention to the volume than the length when choosing these boards.
