How to get a dealership?

Postby downunder » Thu Oct 23, 2014 1:23 pm

Hi guys!

I always wanted my own bizz of some kind but have no experience with any (being in the IT for the last 10-15 years).
My question is how to get a dealership of some kind?

Do you approach to the company you're interested in, explain the situation, your company history etc etc? But than, I just started my own business, so no history:(

Anyone care to explain?

Thanks

D.

Basically you gotta get the brands trust.
Honesty is always a good policy, although this does not guarantee results.
You have to sell yourself, your motivation must come through to your prospective client.

All depends, I've seen people getting dealer pricing just by asking and putting the money out for quiver of kites, pretty sure any kite company would be willing to sell their product to you for resale provided you were not interfering with another local dealer. As your sales grow so will your discount....

Many companies are reading on here...

For which country do you want it?

Boards, kites, both?

Cheers guys

I live in Western Australia, Perth, quite far from everywhere :) The 90% of population is on the East coast.
Thinking about some niche products which might work here with very strong kiting base.

Thanks

That is not really true at all. Most kite companies require you to place an initial order of like $5k +/- in kites and gear. Some companies are more, some are less and of course this isn't how every kite co works, but it is how most work as far as I know. Like any business it is all about capital and location. I am pretty sure if there is a shop close by selling brand x x and x then those co's probably wont let you become a dealer. Your best bet is to look local and see who is selling what, then start calling kite companies and figure out what starting $ is needed to become a dealer.

We already have a DYNABAR reseller, Kitepower in Sydney and Queensland.
We could evaluate to have a dealer in Perth.

Definitely good idea! I can put my hand in the air (for sure the big boys might do the same) :)

Get some flysurfer speeds in down under... :D

But hey they are as rare as hens teeth over here and not a big foil fan base. Minuscule infact.
