What's your preference.
flat, chop, waves.
open ocean, estuary, river, lake.
Personally I love the 3d terrain of waves. Doesn't have to be hardcore wave riding, boosting smashing about who cares I enjoy it more in the waves.

I love chop and waves, flat is fun once in awhile but can get boring. There is nothing sweeter than coming down a wave face heading back out and boosting off the backside of waves. Or riding the glass valleys between waves. Its just hard to get bored when there are so many more ways to ride.
Open Ocean all the way (on or side on are my favorites)

+1 here bra.... these are the sessions I live for. There is a spot at my beach in Puerto Rico that has these exact conditions ands it amazing from Dec - March.
Agree on the flat - Its def nice once in a while, but I get bored after 1 or 2 hours.

Where can I find flat water? Besides lagoons, which are overcrowded and often pungent? Flat water sounds luxurious. Chop and wave force you to learn things you never knew existed. And they'll beat you up if you are not careful.
