Following on from a few posts on here, lots of RRD flyers are not confident in the double centre line flag out.
Who has flown the obsession (2012 to 2015) on other kite bars. I am looking at buying an ozone bar with the front line flag out. Only issue is the "Y" front line split on the obsession is about 4m above the cam cleat. I think the high "Y" split would be an issue and loose a lot of the performance of the kite. The ozone bar has no "Y" split...
suggestions please ?

I fly an obession 9 and vision 12 on a slingshot bar. I've never flown either on an rrd bar but I'm happy with performance and flag out.

Not sure all ozone bars are the same. I used a 2013 reo bar on a 2012 best ts. Weird feeling.
Like on off power no real depower. The kite felt untuned. I usually used a best or LF bar on it with good results. Try it before buying it. The Y position is a factor. High on the LF. Below the bar depower. Long bar travel. Great depower.
The ozone reo bar has a short travel. The Y is fairly low.
Tricky subject. Planning to use my reo bar on a 12m Cloud. Not sure of the match.

The Slingshot bar is a good bar, but I don't personally like it.
I measured the RRD lines = outside - 23m, inner - 20m - This creates quite a high "Y" split and am thinking an ozone bar with no "Y" split (all lines = 24m) will make it fly badly. The high "Y" looks like it pulls the tow point in a little towards the cantre of the kite....
Any thoughs on this, suggestions.... all welcome ???
thanks

The takeaway is not that you should get a slingshot bar, it's that I fly the kites on equal length lines.

Yeah good point.
I flew the 2012 Obsession with a 2010 RRD Global bar it was really bad, flapped lots, slow turning and would not climb well on big kiteloops. I am trying to guage the effect of changing the high "Y" split really. I like the look of the new flexifoil sky bar.
Anyone else tried any other bars ? how were they ?
thanks

I have flown obsessions on LF bar with pigtails and north 2014 quad bar. North felt better.
North also has 2 front line flag out. Hadn't issues yet, only thing that chicken dick broke after 1year of use. Maybe some cold was reason(-5 to 0 C)

I switched to RRD last season and was a little concerned about about the switch because of the primary safety being two lines(I have flown both systems and preferred the single line flag out). Being more cautious than some, I have punched out on several occasions and situations just to see how it would react. Every time, I have been very impressed and comfortable with where the kite parks.
In my opinion, it is one of the cleanest, well thought out bar systems on the market.
Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Cheers!
