Its the Cabrinha pump-leash attachment.

I visited the OTO facebook page and it appears to be a product with a 3D printed gimbal mount for Gopro with electronics to keep the frame level with the horizon.

Its a 1 axis stabilization as far as I can tell. the actual shape and size is a mystery till they roll out the product but based on the test video it seems to work well.

It still seems to be in the testing and pre-production stage.

You can briefly see it hanging on the kite lines in this video at 0:15

Here is their OTO info: https://www.facebook.com/filmwithoto

Yep 1 axis. Spins like a wheel. i was looking at the first vid again it looks down the lines which is where you will always be and levels to the nearest horizon. So it could be relativly non bulky. I dont think any tri-axis ones would last too long there.

I'm definitely curious how this works, how much it weighs, how durable its going to be especially in salt water and how buggy the software is going to be.

I've been experimenting with 2 axis and 3 axis Chinese gimbals for gopros on drones. None of them work very well.

I would think this might have some issues with knowing how to level when the kite is at the zenith. Because in that scenario your X axis is now like a Z axis so how would it know how to level. A typical drone gimbal would flip out and start spinning in that scenario.

I sent them a detailed email inquiry a couple of months back with no response. Not sure these guys are still in the game.

The Captain wrote:I remember seeing a camera in development that used GoPro like sensors in a ball array to capture ALL angles at one. You could then find the horizon and frame direction in post production.
Looked like the ultimate solution. Just record everything in all directions and decide on the view/orientation later.
Called Bubl?

Make it waterproof and you have a sweet sports camera

Yep, yeah. NOT easy. Look at all the kickstarter, fake vids and fake hw stuff around 360 degree cams. Not hit market. Major, major tech roadblocks . There's pro stuff, yes. Making it small, power efficient, reliable , good quality, easy to use editing sw, at affordable price for everyday kite Joe. Tough. One day, asap I hope.

Are there more of those than there are kickstarter videos of waterproof follow-me drones that you can whip out of your backpack and toss in the air? Can't be, there's a new one of those every month...
