Delicious, decisions, descisions...9m kite related

Postby theartofflight » Wed Feb 18, 2015 2:17 am

Hey gang
Been lurking around the forum for some time, decided to register.

Looking to get 9m kite. Found couple of kites for sale in the area.

I have 12 m best kahoona. I think it's 2014, my first and the only kite. Have been riding for almost a year. Trying to get out as much as possible, but winds in Ontario are not stable. Riding flat and some chop, not a lot of waves here.

Here is my options:

9m wainman smoke 2013 with bar. I feel like wainman as a brand geared towards wave riding, but with different settings it can do anything

9m best ts. Step up from my kahoona, I don't have to worry about bar, because I can use my rp bar. I don't mind best as a brand, maybe quality is not there, but not a big deal

9m cores gts2 2013. Lookalike like one of the best kites on the market and can be used in any conditions.

Please help, need you input;)))

I have not flown any of those kites...... What I can tell you, but I hate to admit it, core kites have a very strong following here in central Forida. Everyone who ownes them loves em. In fact, If the kites were not so expensive I might have already demoed a GTS 3.

Personally I am a big fan of the Smoke. It's not the highest jumping kite, but good for freestyle and great for waves. Like you said the settings can make a big difference.

Liked the GTS2, but haven't flown the 3

Good luck

,did you have a look at switchkites?

good quality manufacturing, good quality materials, for example the 9 m method can be compared with your kahoona, ,but surely Element and Nitro are top kites for what you want/ need too!

the Method is positioned as their wavekite, but believe me it gives you a lot of fun too on chop!
all are powerfull kites
.
I have methods and my friend kahoona, soo we fly each others kite once in a while...so that is why I know the difference from kahona and method
good dluck with you choise!

dude :cool2:
www.switchkites.com have a look it does not costs you anything :thumb:

Though the quality will be better, I would assuming the Smoke will probably give you the same type of pull/ride as your Kahoona. Both geared toward wave riding yet it is true you can adjust the bridles for more boosting and such. Your Best bar will work with Wainman too.

If I'm guessing you want a kite with better boosting and upwind ability...then definately consider the TS or Core yet get a 2013 or newer TS.

GTS3 is a great kite but have you considered the XR3 , it is the Core all around model. In the smaller size like 7m 8m and 9m it is quite an amazing kite. You'd gain on wind range and lowend. Pretty much my all time favorite so far.

Ontario has fantastic kiting...our region will get more time on 6m kites than many other locations.
You want a kite that can handle dirty storm winds. For me nothing handles crappy wind like the North Rebel. Good luck.

I just saw your post. I can not help with either of those. All are decent as I was on the Wainmann kites for years. Here are some good deals on 9/10m kites...what is your weight? if your bigger go with a 10m.
