Hey all.
I've just seen a video about Nick Jacobson getting ready for the RedBull King of the Air thing.
He put wax on his foot pads and straps.
Makes sense i suppose to have a bit more grip while riding in certain conditions.
Anybody do this? Any thoughts?

nick jacobson's most famous kiteboarding move is the "one foot in one foot out" jump, aka the ACL buster.
The wax helps him keep one foot holding the board while the other foot is out.
I respect him but I really don't want more grip in my straps! last thing I want is for wax to keep me from slipping out my second foot if the first one gets loose.

Might give it a go. Wouldn't mind a bit more grip. I suppose just normal surf board wax?

There is a wax called punt wax... there are others too, but punt is popular. Gets its name from punting aka busting airs. It's the messiest nastiest awsomest stuff ever. You really only "mess" with it on your small board... shit always gets on clothes, wetsuits, towels, car seats... whatever so its only for the good wave days when your getting good airs and so pumped you don't care. Its so sticky you can slap your hands on the deck and just lift it up like spiderman. Its said to unleash mystical powers on the water. Someone else mentioned that feeling of having to peel you feet up when stepping. Gives so much confidence in the air, but If you only put it on the board and not the tail pad there is a serious mismatch in grip.

I rub punt wax all over the front and rear traction pads of my secret weapon.
love the stuff for strapless kiting!
I wouldn't want to use it on a paddle in board though since it would get all over you.
I'd try base wax first in straps, then maybe punt wax if that wasn't working since once you put punt on its not coming off
