Edge has much lighter bar pressure. Both turn slow and jump well.

Have you gotten a chance to try an Edge? Both are very popular, but comes down to personal preference. I've never been a fan of Switchblades, but some people love them.

I can't compare the edge to switchblade. But do own 10m and 13edge. So can answer questions about those 2 sizes if interested.

I used to have a whole quiver of Switch blades.
1. Switch blades are more durable than The Edges.
2. switch blades are all around kites, Edges are race kites.
3. Edges will have more power than a similar size Switchblades.
4. You will need a race bar with the Edges to realize it's full potential.
5. Edges are much better with Hydrofoil than switchblades.
6. edges will drift better than the Switchblades.
7. The switchblade will be easier to relaunch than the Edges for a beginner.
Just my 2 cents

I don't agree that a race bar is required for the edge. Mine are set up for with stock 50cm bar and I get awesome performance. Sure if you want to race then get a race bar. otherwise the long flappy bit of rope can be a pain in the arse. My Chrono is set up on a race bar. Truth is id prefer a standard set up 90% of the time.

I got off switchblades and onto Edges, it was like stepping into an elevator!
You don't need a race bar for 10, 13, or 15m in my opinion.
13m is my favorite!

You will immediately notice jump height and more so the hang time!

I don't think you need a race bar for the Edge. I use a race bar for raceboard or hydrofoil, but I don't like it for riding twintip. The long depower line hits you in the face when you unspin the bar.

you should be comparing the Edge with the Cabrinha Velocity, not the SB. Regarding the race bar...simplicity :) Also, the lines on the race bar are thinner, especially the rear/outside lines. The advantage....less drag; most noticeable at the low end of the kites wind range and in the lulls

A few years back ; i was towing a 12-year old girl across lake
Mohave on my surfboard, with my Ozone -- 13M Edge ; it was blowing
14 to 30-mph , and I was on a 145cm TT.

During a 14-mph lull , when everyone dropped there kite into the water ;
i was still towing that Lil girl, across lake Mohave !

All the other kiters on the lake that day ; they were Pissed !

I weigh 210-Lb.

Now think how much power, and What speed-range you will have ;
without a Lil girl behind you , just slowing Ya down ??

What experienced 1 said. The Edge is comparable to the Velocity. Let's face it...Cabrinha 100% copied the Edge when they came out with the Velocity.

Switchblade turns quicker and is a lot more durable. The Edge is a purpose built race kite and is made with lighter (i.e. thinner) material and it's durability has been an issue in the past. I've flown both Switchblades and Edges extensively and they are both very different kites. The Edge will keep you floating for days. It's also more efficient in lighter winds. The Switchblade turning speed makes loops easier. The Edge will fly more forward in your stance and shoots upwind a little better than the SB. I prefer how clean the Ozone bar is versus the Canrinha bar. You definitely don't need the race bar for the Edge. That long ass depower rope flops around everywhere. If you liked the performance of the Switchblade then I think you will be disappointed with the Edge. They are both very different kites.
