Here's mine, and yes, my wife makes fun of me but it works great and stays on no matter how many times I dunk myself trying something new. The brim has a good stiffness and works well when wet. Its great because I wear it on the beach, around town. bodyboarding etc...Not sure I would wear the Dakine everywhere like I do this one. And this hat is better than the one my buddy bought in Hatteras three years ago, couldn't take the abuse, it went "missing" after a couple days.

My buddy's hat, something like this;

nothing stays on your head better than a helmet. or just put some sunscreen on top of the dome, but then you have to shampoo it out later that day.

The Protec helmets are good and don't typically come off unless its a bad crash. The only downside is they can get a bit hot. If you don't need the head protection and want something a bit lighter an 'Indo surf hat' is easily the best of the other available options. Aesthetically with that chin strap they are '100% lady proof' but they keep your face, neck, head and ears covered after your sun cream has washed off.

Whichever hat you choose get something in a reasonably bright colour so you can find the damn thing if it does fall off. I have lost more than a few grey and black baseball caps after taking a heavy spill.

Why would you wear a helmet if you're just going to land in the water??? :lol:

I just wear a regular baseball cap to cover my scalp and keep the sun out of my eyes.. I have this leash thing that clips to the hat and rash guard in the back. Oh , and SunBum waterproof sun block on my ears and back of neck....

nobody wants to crash on land but it happens I remember watching a bridle wrap kiteloop last year guy went 20 meter in less than a second his head missed an iron pole by inches.

once u r riding u don't need the helmet but your head is a convenient place to keep it

If he had his hands attached to the bar, and he was flying, how is his head going to hit a pole? Wearing a helmet is just like saying "I suck" out in the water
