Hi guys,

i'm posting here to reach out for the help of the kiteboarding community.
we were struck by a fire last night, on the worst day it could happen since we had the strongest winds of the season yesterday.
we noticed it early and tried to put it out with all our matters, more than 20 people with fire extinguishers and buckets full of water from the lagoon.
but there was nothing we could do against a 30 knot wind.
the fire got so much oxygen making it grow like i have never seen before and the winds spread it over the camp and within 5 minutes everything was in flames.

we managed to save some buildings and belongings but we lost 19 rooms , the restaurant, bar and our dorm building.

the fire brigade arrived later on making us save the more downwind chalet's and we managed to get control over the fire.

however to rebuild a work which took 5 years to rebuild we need help,
any donation , big or small will be very much appreciated so that we can rebuild this beautiful camp
and welcome people once more to this amazing kite spot.

Last night at around 21h00, we suffered a major tragedy.
A fire was noticed at the edge of our camp grounds.
The fire spread quickly throughout the camp and within thirty minutes, our camp was burned to the ground. We tried our best to extinguish the fire but with a 30 knot wind conditions this was impossible, (see attached video/photo). The fire trucks came after an hour, which was too late. Everything was already in ashes, luckily no one was injured or harmed.

We are organizing ourselves as much as possible to recover what we can. However, we still need a lot of help. We humbly ask your support with helping us rebuild what we have lost. Any donation given big or small would be greatly appreciated by all of us at SriLankaKite. We would like to offer to our past and future guests the same shared love and passion we have for this sport. To continue to make this dream happen, we are counting on you for your loyal support in helping us reconstruct the place we all enjoyed and remembered it to be.

La nuit dernière, aux alentours de 21h00, nous avons vécu une tragédie.
Un début de feu s’est soudainement déclaré dans l’angle au fond du camp.
Le feu s’est très rapidement propagé à travers le site et en moins de 30min une grande partie du camp a été ravagée.
Nous avons fait tout notre possible pour éteindre l’incendie mais avec des conditions de vent de 30 noeuds, ce fut impossible (voir video/photo). Les secours locaux sont arrivés 1h après mais c’était déjà trop tard. Tout était déjà en cendre mais heureusement personne n’a été blessé.

Nous nous organisons au mieux pour récupérer ce que l’on peut. Cependant, nous avons besoin d’aide.
