I am looking for a source and first of all a name for these pins that are used in the quick release systems found in kite leashes. Every brand uses them but I wonder if they are somewhere available to purchase in regular hardware or marine stores? Searched internet but I guess I don't even know what they are properly called. Any idea?

Or the pins used on the cloud bar for the quick release with a simple ball and pin.

Hah, I think I found out what they are called:
Straight Stainless Steel Closing Pin
Turns out they are used in the parachute industry. Maybe they come up with it first?

Getting back to this topic. Anybody know where to get these pins that are solid enough for our custom quick release build? Don't feel like butchering expensive Cabrinha leash for this small part. It's got to be available for purchase somewhere!

Another option is to get a long D shackle, cut off the one leg and polish the end.

I'm looking for an economical solution. Otherwise there are plenty options taking expensive parts and butcher them. These pins must be used for something else. Just got to learn what they are called.

daspi why dont you just order a bunch of the "Straight Stainless Steel Closing Pin" things you mentioned earlier. They are easy to find separately cost $2-$4 from any parachuting shop. Apex, Paragear, Dropzone, Rock Sky . . . .
Did you forget you figured it out??

If you have a good sized drop zone, they will have an on-site rigger, who should have them in stock.
Otherwise, a few options here:

I was just not sure if they are strong enough as the main release system on the center line. I plan to use it instead of the chicken loop for a direct connection. I don't want it to fail 40ft up in the air
