Lol. I ask for evidence and the only response is, "chill with the attitude." Very telling.

For your second question, regarding fins, start with one size smaller than 'recommended' in composites. It's a good cheap starting point that you can make adjustments from after you've ridden it in your conditions. I ride F4 plastic quads on my VG and would start there for the VD since they're so similar.

From my experience by having tried many different type of boards (sometimes in different sizes for the same model), I can tell that volume matters… as I know now that a volume of 25L is what work best for me (82kg).
The 3 last boards I got in my quiver are:
- HB Lafayette 5'10 => 25.1L
- FIrewire Vanguard 5'4 => 25.9L (sold)
- Firewire Vader 5'3 => 25.8L
So, I can't explain technically why, but If I need to pick up a surfboard for kiting I will try to find one with about 25L in volume. This is the perfect size for me 90% of the time. Obviously I appreciate to ride a smaller one in strong wind (above 30knts).
By the way, I have also a Shinnster for low wind days… and it works well … but it's far from the real surf feeling.

Regarding fins for the Vader, I am pretty pleased with a Josh Mulcoy set up (used in tri fin)

Gee whiz, there is more into a kite surfboard than fluid dynamics. Robbie Nash and Pete Cabrinha know something about Surfboards for kite surfing.

I will stick to a traditional surfboard as I am probably not good enough to appreciate this new design with only 15 years of experience windsurfing plus another 15 years of experience kite surfing.

Hum, also does that mean all ships should have no volume?

By the way the 5' 3" Vader has 25.8 liters of volume.

Ummm, no. There isn't. You clearly have NO idea WTF you're talking about as the study of fluid dynamics is ALL there is to a kite surfboard. Fluid dynamics IS the study of how things interact with fluids. Clearly you slept through that class, if you even attended one as you claim.

Hum, also does that mean all ships should have no volume?

Once again, you make my point for me. You're clearly too ignorant to understand the difference between a plaining hull and a displacement hull. Next....

This is not scientific american magazine.
If you want to be all technical.
They must be both a planing hull and a displacement hull(volume ).

I never claimed i ever took any classes in fluid dynamics, you must be confused with someone else's comments.

You may believe me to be ignorant, but you just come off like a jackass.

Sorry, got you confused with Megabear, who does.

The kiteboard, as I specified above, operates in a planing mode 99% of the time. Which is 100% of the time we care about. A ship, which you mentioned operates in a displacement mode 100% of the time. (Barring a few megayachts which operate in a hybrid mode.)

You may think I come off as a "jackass" but the fact of the matter is I know what I'm talking about and you're clearly talking out of you ass. If you worship at the altar of ignorance, so be it, but don't get bent when people call you out on saying stupid stuff.

No matter how you spin it Volume does matter.

Look at Cabrinha line of kite surfboards for 2015. Cabrinha specificly classify there boards as high volume or low volume.

Nor sure why you are arguing about this.

Volume does matter - as a size indicator.
People used to refer board sizes by length, i.e. "get a 6'1 board".

Obviously with the Vanguard or Vader this makes little sense anymore.
So people go to the next best thing - volume.
Surface area would likely even better, but I have yet to see a board, where these informations are available.

I think rail volume is important- it has an impact on the ride for sure. Of course rail shape is interrelated to the rail volume and rail shape is very important.
