Oh ok, thanks for that - my pic must not show it but my setup works same as BRM.
Push the green release & flags to one front.
Pull red release & you are completely disconnected from kite.
I'm not sure if there's any benefit from changing to the ring but I'll def give it some thought.
OK, yeah, I couldn't see that. In that case I really don't see any particular advantage to ditching what you have and going with a ring. The Y connector up top does the same job and you already have it.

Got my ring on order. Am going to trim the chicken loop, loop down to be a snug fit on the ring.
What size did you get?
Aiming to get to this set up. The ring I've ordered is the same dimensions as this. I think 20 might be the id and 14 is the width.

how do people like the jay bar ball bearing on the rope? I use the hook that stretches out from the middle on the bungee, works ok but hook could be better, but like the fact it pulls you back into the middle of the bar.

I do wonder what benefit the low friction ring would provide over just hooking your CL straight onto the rope, as I know from experience wear is fairly minimal.

Less friction so it slides easier but that is not always a benefit.

I'm finding the wear worrisome on my set up (CL straight to rope). To the point I have a couple bars I'm nervous to use.
I'm going to source the pictured antal ring and give it a try.

Ok, that's interesting as I didn't notice much when I was doing the same but pretty sure I changed to SS ring & then pulley as soon as I knew the sliding setup was my thing.
I've just changed from a pulley to a LFR on my rope & surprised that's the ring slides just as smooth as the pulley.

Chicken loop right on a slider rope as shown in any of the Ride Engine promo shots is just not a lasting set up. The acute angle alone is enough to eventually kill a CL.
You need that ring. They are crazily priced at that size, but work pretty well.

FYI. I picked up a harken low friction ring at my local sail shop. Cost was like 30 $ Canadian without tax. The size is 20mm and 14mm thick.
It is incredibly smooth, as smooth as a pulley I would say. I actually would prefer a little resistance as its slides across.
Purpose of using the ring instead of just a chicken loop is wear. The line will wear that cl down for sure. I'm careful to always be sure the cl is on the ring, it will only pop off after a major crash.
The the ring is actally a little small for the cl with regards to thickness, but it turns out to be a good thing. As the cl has a thick polymer cover it wedges into the ring under load and thus prevents it from separating from the ring if you lose line tension.
One last thing. I found with this set up the bar moved too far from my body so I changed out the cl for a women's cl. Now it's much better for me. Cost was like 25$CA but I don't have the time to modify a CL.

Going to redrop this here.
Seriously, it's the best slider setup ever. No dealing with chicken loop crap, clean, simple.
