Yeah, swage eye is a close estimate, but you gotta salvage and covet the real deal pins where you can.
I have a few and I'm hanging on to them!

This setup works good for me.

maybe this quetion has been answered before , sorry for that. but where do you buy the two metal triggers inside the plastic balls ? i have a similar set up (which I love to remove the hook torque but keep the pull point stable), but to make it on all my bars I need to find each time a second hand old cabrinha leash or even bar ... do you know a shop to buy it as a spare part ?
For pins, I've bought a couple of Cab IDS depower mainline kits, some stores still have old stock of them.

There are a couple of posts on this topic - there are a couple of DIY options.

I use a release pin from a hobiecat. Works well.

Why such a long piece of rope leading to the quick release snap shackle?

Also, have you checked the load rating? It might snap right open if it gets too much pressure. It might seem big, but the rating isn't that high for that size.

The length is perfect, thanks. Just fine for my arms. My chickenloop has a very small diameter...I have used this setup for years. I have no idea what the load rating is (I am sure I did when I bought it, back in 2001 or so). It's not a cheapo...that I remember.

I hadn't used in a while, I stopped using it when the chickenloops on the market were acceptable/safe.. Back in the day, when we went from 2 to 4 lines, this was a safe setup.

I went back to this setup, after I bought the ride engine with the rope slider. Hooking in in the chickenloop brought the bar in too close. This setup allows complete control of the distance between you and the bar. Plus, the ronstan sliding thingy slides far better.

Nothing wrong with replacing the chicken loop with a shackle. But that style will bind under load (i.e. semi flagged death looping kite). Seen it and experienced it myself both as chickenloop and on kite leash. Needed all the strength in both arms to release it. Took longer than needed in an emergency. Even had it jam with sand partially open so it opened on me accidentally.

I would recommend switching it to this style. Never had this one jam, or bind, or accidentally realease on me.

Also the small ring can grab the free arm of the shackle and hold it. I used to fly Peter Lynn Twin Skins. I would occasionally shackle the kite to an anchor and let it fly while going for lunch. Once, I came back after about 45 minutes to find the shackle open and the arm wedged in the ring. The ring held it there for potentially the entire 45 minutes. 🤤

All right. Since you might be right, I'll swap it. Thanks for the warning!

Appreciate it.
