Here's my lack of hook. Love it.
Ditch that QR man. Its dangerous and wont release under load!
this one is safer.
The Wichard snap shackles do
not function correctly when there is
any sand or other foreign bodies in the release system.

it was officially not recommended by wichard themself as a kite release system. Do not know if it is technically justified or just insurance issues for Whichard which did not qualify it for kitesurfing application...

Both these quick release shackles have been designed to be used on spinnakers for keelboats.
The 'quick release' part is to be able to set up the spinnaker quickly without wasting time tying knots on the sheets. The head of the spinnaker does not make use of a quick release shackle because you really don't want that to let go.
They are not designed to be opened in an emergency under severe load, but rather to be opened and closed rapidly and still provide a secure attachment.
They are also designed to open and release (instead of jamming) when they fail (you'd rather replace a $100 shackle than your whole rig).

This works fine for me. I like to keep the safety separate rather than 'inline' like BRM does.

Why separate? The integrated leash is the beauty of the BRM system Imho.

To you perhaps but not to me.
I want a separate leash in order to avoid any confusion with physical proximity and function of the two releases, and secondly one is push (good) and the other is pull (not good).
For example, it might not be me using the releases if I am in difficulty and a third party is using them.

To each their own, but have you tried the BRM set up or do you just dislike the idea of a pull release? As to confusion, there really is none, you simply follow your instincts and push like every other release. Having your hand already on the secondary saves time and distraction when it counts most. If your worried about some ensuing danger, you simply keep holding it close and the secondary will fire flawlessly if and when the flag line tensions. About as failsafe as you can get for both you and your kite.
The integrated leash is streamlined, where a short secondary leash like you have could foreseeably catch a bar end in a tumble.

One drawback with the integrated flag line is that you don't have a choice of which line to flag.
I keep my flag leash separate until I need it.
But I can see the attraction of having it integrated, especially if you just want to punch out.
Then again, if you have a long depower throw, there's almost never a reason to flag out unless you are self landing.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both, but in my judgement on balance two stage physically separate push away releases are a better and safer solution.
