Did someone try a GPS watch like TomTom, Garmin or Suunto at the same time as the Woo to see how it matches?

GPS is pretty bad at measuring altitude, the margin of error is quite big. http://gpsinformation.net/main/altitude.htm

I have had the woo and Xensr both.

unfortunatly i did have some issues with testing them both (read Woo broke). in the beginning i had issues with my Xensr too and takes a little getting used to.
after updating the firmware it has been working superbly.

especially the lights are a bit hard to figure out in the beginning but it took me around 15 minutes to understand all the flashes and things.

Yes it takes longer than a woo to start up but you get so much more data!
Just turn it on when setting up and you are good to go by the time you are ready to hit the water.

About the locking system i can't agree as it's way better than woos mount.
Actually it feels more accurate then the woo. High jumps are actually high! For me it will be Xensr.

I've checked the Xensr GPS speed (turn the app on and drive in your car + tomtom) and seems pretty accurate. diff was just 1 Km/h.

Also using it with my tomtom bandit cam:

love the video.... pity the dial wasn't measuring height, rather than speed!

Did you really max at 20m? That speed looks way off as well.

yeah that looks way off!!!

There is no way the speed is right, no way you're doing 46 mph. I use a speed board and when I am hauling ass, anything over 40 it looks WAY faster than that. Also it was odd why you're going so fast when leaving the water, it doesn't make sense.

Sorry.

Speed could be right, I've only taken my GT-31 out kiting once, and tried blasting between the waves off wind, and could only manage 34 knot peak, I then gave up and went kite looping, when I got in the top speed was 42 knots. No idea when, but was hitting the water hard. Must try again sometime to compare as may have been a glitch!

Be interesting to see the actual Xensr GPS data log.... Normally a super high max speed is an error at just one point in the data and you can discount it. I would have thought that the Xensr software might have cleaned up data errors. Anyone know what format the GPS track on the xensr is recorded in?

If the spike in the data, where the max speed point is, gets recorded over several data points, ie you can see the acceleration/deceleration either side then it looks more likely to have actually happened.
I dont think a reading of 75kph/46mph is that unusual for very short periods in kiting especially landing fast from a big jump or crashing. Either way, if you can look at the data you will see.

The speed on the vid is kph?

Xensr units will be here this week in the UK. We have 5 coming to 24-7 Boardsports. One will almost certainly be going on demo, so we'll be out on one as soon as the wind kicks in. Will back to back it with garmin and gt31.
