Looking for some 2016 Nobile NHP Split feedback

Postby Adventure Logs » Tue Feb 09, 2016 9:37 pm

Looking to sell my Flysplit M and replacing it with the 2016 NHP split. Looks like there's much more concave this year and just looking for some ride reports. Looks like it will be more fun in the waves but with a higher bottom end. Also wondering if it will be work spending the money on the carbon version. Thanks

I have the 2015 Carbon NHP Split

It has a lot of rocker, I would assume that the 2016 would be the same. I find it to be stiffer than the Flysplit M which I also have.

How would you compare them? I have the Flysplit L which I love but I'm planning a motorcycle trip from the US to Argentina which I'm bringing one kite and a split board so I need something that's a good all around board. How's the connecting system compare? I really like the tool less system.

The 2016 didnt look any different than my 2015. Its unfortunate they decided to go with that colour scheme/graphics for 2016... what were they thinking?!

Why are you trading in your Flysplit for the NHP? I was under the impression that there wasn't much difference?

Originally they were but it seems they updated the NHP so that's why I'm asking for comparisons. Also my Flysplit M isn't holding up as well as I would like and I really like the complete tool less feature of the NHP.

Watch out journeying thru Mexico. I've done it many years ago and there was always small issues. Now they are way out of control.

So my review of the 2016 nobile split.
First I would like to say I'm coming off a shinn monk so my comparison is to that as its what I've been riding for the last few years.
I got it because I travel a lot. I didn't buy it due to the airplane fees as I was always on weight but because I hated carting around the big board bags in cabs, trains ect.
1. It's now my full time board.
2. I like it cause it's more playful. This could be due to the smaller fins or rocker. But it slides around and is definitely a bit more fun and playful.
3. I love the screw system. So much easier and doesn't undo itself as its locks itself in. Well done nobile.
4. Wasn't big on the straps as they were loose at the start but now seem to be ok. The foam pads were a little slippery at the start but they are getting a bit grippier I still slide around but not as much as at the start. I think they can improve on this a bit.
5. Construction is great and the locking system so far is good.
6. In the chop I get sprayed in the face (more so than the monk) but the other factors out way this so not a massive issue.
7. Solid build.
8. Toeside is better than the monk.
9. Up winds good but not great.
10. Its definitely heavier than the monk but this isn't a real issue. Took me a little getting use to when doing tricks.
11. Jumps well but sometimes when I land flat it makes a real "thwack" sound that worries me. It makes me think I'm going to break it however so far it seems fine.
12. Because it's so easy to change the pad position I've found that I've played around with different foot positions and angles. This has helped me find a stance that works better for me.
13. It's low end isn't as good as the monk due to the rocker and channels (I would guess)

Pretty happy with the board so far.
