What is the name of this trick?

Postby Vacaloca » Wed Feb 10, 2016 6:40 pm

What's the trick he makes at 33seconds and 45seconds?

https://vimeo.com/70547736

And more generally, what is the name of just the "back flip"? (rotating around the horizontal axis that goes from shoulder to shoulder. Tried to search for flip but people confuse it with a roll and i cant find the trick name)

Thx!

Great thanks! Spot-on with the Tantrum, but the video (no idea about the name) of the S Mobe doesn't match the trick at second 33 of Julien. That trick looks like a half S-BEND to Tantrum (landing toeside, because you are looking the other way because of the front roll).

thanks starsky :bye:

fantastic, that's the one!

By the way, didn't exactly get how you do the back flip with the straight legs. I would have thought you had to curve yourself backwards. The video says to just remove the front hand, but I doubt that will do the trick. Any learning tips on this one?

For sure there is some backward arch, but it is a trip flip. Learn em on little kickers. Once you get the feel for the take off its not tough. Almost the same as an S bend, but you get more squared through the shoulders when you let go with the rear hand..... I tend to only do S bends on port tack and tantrums as the analog on starboard. Don't use the kicker to take off from so much as to catch the tail of the board on. Use it to initiate the end over rotation and you don't have to arch much. Speed is key too or it just ends up twirly. Drag the tail of the board and smack it against the lip as you lift the front knee a bit and rotate your head to look up and back over the rear shoulder. You can progress from hooked in to a proper tantrum.

I've never taken it to the handle pass.... but should. I prefer to land toe side on that tack.
