Neo 2016 - anyone using Core Sensor (I prefer that over North Bar)?

Postby omg » Sat Apr 02, 2016 6:39 pm

So I have previously asked about high and low "Y" on front lines with different bars for Neo and the answer from many people who tried low "Y" that Neo flies like $hit.

Therefore as I prefer Core Sensor bar over North's bar, I was wondering if anyone has used Core bar with Neo and if it works flawlessy? I need to buy either bar asap, but as said if Core works just as well I would choose it.

Thanks! :jump:

Both are great but imho apples and oranges.

I like North bar with North kite.

Core is nice too.

All of the low V split bars are compatible with four line kites from other low V split bars. So Liquid Force, Slingshot, Blade, Airrush, North, etc. 4 lines kite bars are all cross compatible with each other's 4 line kites.

Any kite that comes with a high Y split you basically need to stick with that brand's bar. Aside form being different than the low V, the split occurs at a different point along the lines. Altering that would open up the kite canopy in an unusual way, being either too closed or too open, which will degrade performance.

I would advise against buying a low V split bar for a high Y bar oriented kite, it will get messy. The different high Y split bars are probably not compatible with each other, it would be most likely to work if the Y split occurred near the same point. Feel free to be the forum's guinea pig though lol

PS: Kinda funny you love Core's bar, my ex-gf loved Core kites and hated their bars.

How can it fly like shit when NORTH says it can be flown on both 4 and 5 line bars????? And why would you ever ride a 5 line kite in the waves. And their "quad" bar has a low Y. I really dont get it

seems the biggest difference is the line length of the front lines from the high Y to the low V. Basically, the Y line has to travel a longer distance to get to the kite so makes the line functionally shorter. So, inversely, the V line travels a shorter distance, so is functionally longer. If you adjust for this, it helps a lot, usually about 3cm on a 25 meter line set. Seems to me this has a much larger effect than the kite pinching or opening up differently. of course, YMMV, just what I have found.

Thats is how you trim your kite. And where knots and trim strap comes in handy. But not what this is all about.

Still confused

Oh and sorry, no idea about core products

not sure we are talking about the same thing and not sure that is how it works,
on the North bars, whether 4 or 5 line, you trim the lines even at full power

yet on the kite there are/were separate attachment points for the 4 or 5 line hook-up several cm's apart to compensate for the line length difference.

Basically what I am after is if the different "Y" distances from the kite affects the kite's behaviour or not assuming the line lengths are optimally adjusted for the kite (not over or under sheeting) ie. if North kites need to have more support from tip to tip which the higher "Y" effectively does when it has shorter lines from the "Y" towards the kite and not allowing the kites tips to move qider to each other as easily as some very low "Y" setups allow.

I have a high Y Core Sensor bar about 4m up from the bar. Use it with a 2012 Slingshot Rally 8. No problems detected. Also use it with no problems with a XR4 which can be used with the Sensor 2, which is low Y.
Used a High Y bar on Switch kites gen 1 and Mr Hansen said it would effect those kites negatively, but the idiosyncratic behavior of those kites were reported by many, and later referred to as eliminated by Switch as improvements in Gen 2.

Let's say your bridle has 3 to 4 m between the attachment points. And the front lines meet 20m below on a high Y, and 24 m on low Y. That angle difference is small. Someone do the trigonometry, may be wrong.
