bag for split surfboard

Postby yzbob » Wed Apr 06, 2016 4:19 pm

I have a new splitsurf board each 1/2 is 83cm so i'm looking for a bag about 90cm long (so i can pass it off as a big but regular bag) that is going to work for the board 2 kites harness wetsuit, few clothes.

i'm searching online but maybe someone out there is already using something similar?

Suggestions much appreciated

Thanks

Bob

Check out Nobile's Master Bag. It's the only one that I know of that's dedicated for a split surfboard and gear.

thanks, had a look but its not big enough for split surfboard.
needs to be 90cm by 50cm to fit the board and a bit of padding.

now looking into bodyboard bags them seem like they might work better.

Yes they are. There is on for twin tip split and one for surf which is 110cm tall.

ah thanks, never saw that, it's a little on the narrow side for my board.

the best 3 i've found so far are all boady board bags. think i'm probably gonna go for something like these.

The issue with a body board bag may be with the policies of the airlines you fly on. Those bags look like they carry some type of board. What does airline x's policy say about body boards...will they be given a surcharge, or do body boards fly the same as one checked piece of luggage? What's your back story if asked whats in the case?

The width is the killer for most other options though. If you could find a short (135cm) and wide 'Golf' bag, that could be an option...disassembled, your board will look like club dividers. Throw 3-5 clubs in as proof your a golfer if ever asked by the counter agents (assuming you can take the weight).

Otherwise, getting charged extra fees to carry a split board kinda defeats its purpose.

thanks for the idea jollydriver!

Just remembered and dug out my old "golf bag" from my twintip days and I think it's gonna do the job for my immediate trip just need to well pad the overlap of the 2 board pieces in the middle.
