Yo, reviving a dead forum so no one can blame me for not searching for a prior answer first :D

So I'm staying out the point of Anacortes for the next few months and really want to be able to get some foiling in on the ocean while I'm out here! one problem, I'm a long ways from locust beach up in Bellingham. I'm hoping I can find a spot or two that are a bit closer of a drive (I'm use to living 5min from the beach, sue me). I'm down for kiteboarding if the winds are 15+ kts, but I plan on bringing foil gear and getting some awesome shots cruising around on the foil.

so I went for a drive today a scoped out some spots here's what I came up with:

Hunter Beach:
https://www.google.com/search?q=hunter+ ... 7777723;mv:[[48.58830577731903,-122.43141111199641],[48.587945822680965,-122.43195528800364]]

I found some details on this beach on another forum, I drove down there and it seems sketch and like that info is outdated? for those of you from the area, do you need to apply for membership to "hunt" on the land to walk along the line fence to get down to the water?

Samish Island public beach access
https://www.google.com/search?q=hunter+ ... 0248713;mv:[[48.58893942078467,-122.49504174787212],[48.56665099491106,-122.55941476422954],null,[48.5777964362093,-122.52722825605083],15]

seems like this could be tricky at high tide, not sure if this is really viable, but it is a public beach and doesn't feel like you're trespassing. There's another beach called blue heron beach nearby that I didn't check out but looked viable across the bay.

Bay View State Park
https://www.google.com/search?q=hunter+ ... 2769708;mv:[[48.50208431210168,-122.4253603264581],[48.45742107544837,-122.55410635917295],null,[48.479757609302744,-122.48973334281553],14]

This one seemed the most promising and like a real park. Its getting close to an oil refinery plant which I'm not stoked about, but it is close and would work great for NW winds which are supposed to be common this time of the year.

Dogfish point

-interestingly enough its nude beach, looks like this could work on a south wind day too and save me 20 minutes of driving. Any ideas on this one?

I found a link to this forum as well with recommendations for tide heights to get out there (lots of thick mud on low tide)
http://www.nskite.com/home/wind

Any other ideas from those of you who are light wind chasers that frequent the area hit me up! I guess if its a south wind day I'm driving up to Bellingham. I'm comfortable drift launching and dealing with squirrelly tough winds, though I'm hoping I can get some of the smooth ocean wind I hear so much about (I've been kiting around inland lakes for 2 years now)

when i got stuck working in seattle... i stopped at urban surf.
( super helpful as far as local intel)
i eneded driving out to cline spit in sequim and primarily used jetty island...
washington state is not the Caribbean with never ending tradewinds and warm water.
but you can kite there..

I used to live on Whidbey Island just south of Anacortes before I started kiting. West beach on Whidbey just south of the Naval Air Station is a good spot with the right wind and has some fun wind swell at times too. Watching people out there is part of what made me eventually switch from sailing to kiting. Not sure what the access currently is but people back then would rig and launch in the meadow by the parking area then walk out across the beach due to all the driftwood.

Thanks for the input! The spot on Whidbey looks cool, I may have to check that out.

I'll make it to the Caribbean eventually, I just love the San Juan area. I just think it'd make for some amazing views and footage. - I also have a free flight and hotel room right now which helps ;)
