Do the home owners get any sort of compensation for the loss of property values? Who would pay the previous value with a bridge surrounding your property?
I bet they found an excuse...like "what's your house valuable when you can't access it with a car?

That is really bad.....That house value just went to ZERO.
That piling pounding was super loud when we heard it in October, we were way down by Kitty Hawk too.
I can't imagine that Bob......holy shit.
Does anyone have an update of how far out the bridge is now?

Are you talking about the Jug handle bridge?? That construction just began in the fall.

Does anyone have pics or video of how far along they are now? That vid is from November and I know those crews don't usually let the grass grow. (especially this project where they want to really slam it in and be done....)
Knowing the progress may help if anyone is thinking of squeaking in one last trip there before it's shut completely.

Sorry, that's probably only for the Bonner replacement section. I got excited when I saw the dates.
Jug handle expected to open late 2020

Yet another victory over corrupt government is a sweeping cutoff of federal budget funding of the jughandle bridge. County is regularly kicking out entire island population so there was little reasoning found in so called “emergency purposing” of the project.
On overbloated budget and planned to be built with imported steel the elevated nightmare piece of land construction will serve as a memorial to greed and wasteful spending.
Fortunately over at last!

Wait..............what?
Do you have a link or source for that Grigori? I'm dubious of any internet intel within this proximity of April Fools.
I hope you're serious! If yes, fall trip is back on!

Unfortunately, the only link I can offer for yesterday's news is here

I wish we could ride at Rodanthe again, and I'm not the only one who had to stop renting there and look for alternatives.
The road north of Rodanthe is a disaster and damn birds somehow made argument not to get elevated road built (east of current ones but not through the sound itself). The island will not move quarter mile in 40 years and that's probably how long the bridge is supposed to last.
Will see all of you guys on water!
