Nobile NHP Carbon 134x42

Postby poools81 » Wed Jun 29, 2016 1:54 am

Hey guys been riding NHP 2011 for a while was thinking of upgrading to a new nhp. Anyone have experience with the 134x42 carbon model? Is it any difference worth the money? Also anyone have left over older models I would be interested. Any comparisons would be appreciated! Thanks :thumb:

I had a 2013 NHP 134x42 and really enjoyed it. Then in 2014 they came out with the carbon and I had to have it.....cuz it was carbon. (and I'm a mountain biker dipshit that believes all things carbon are better). So I ran out and bought it. Well in all honesty I thought the 2013 rode better. I rode them both with my own SP bindings and the same fins too, so the only difference was the board. The carbon felt like it had more rocker, was slower and didn't really want to go upwind too well unless it was really powered. (reminded me of my older Monk). Both boards were great in chop, had good pop and were really light.

I think they are nice boards, but there are a few that I do like better.

Looking at NHP split and can't find anything about sizing. Have emailed Nobile x3 with no response (which concerns me about customer service). Anyone know what size appropriate for: 150b/70kg and 5'10"/1.8m? Options 130x39, 134x41, and 138x43. Currently on Monk 130 and love it, but it has less rocker, so I suspect I am looking at one of the next 2 larger sized here.

Yep get a bigger board than you are use to. Great board but tons of rocker. Have you tried to directly email them from their website?

Well I went full on BUY mode and special ordered a 135x41.5 and a 144x45. Sent a money order directly to Christchurch, NZ and 3 weeks later (thank God) a board package arrived.

The boards were pretty nice! You can tell they share 95% of the DNA of the Axis boards. The bottom has a bit different channeling, different tips/tails, and a little more rocker than my Axis Limited. I had my Limited around to do some direct comparisons. It was amazing how differently they rode for being so similar.

ASP with more rocker was a bit slower, and not as automatic upwind. It did ride great in chop and could pop even a little better than the Axis. I was a little put off by the bigger 144x45, it just wasn't designed to be a light wind board. It had the same big rocker line as the 135 so it was more of a just a big guys twin tip.

I ended up selling them and just getting a 138x42.5 Axis Limited (Jupiter Kite shop gave me a great deal on it) to just have one board. The ASPs were nice, and with the US/NZ exchange rate I scored two carbon boards for just over a grand.

Ah ok. The old buy-it-to-demo play :D

No they're quite separate entities. Same home town but different guys and factories...

I thought you might have been a local to Christchurch :)
