Dirty little secret of strapless boosting?

What's the preferred glue, ahem, I meant to say wax?

I do ok with strapless air, I find it's mostly dependent on the board and ramp size, ramp angle, wind speed etc. I go waist to head high with some consistancy. I understand the whole angle the board into the wind thing, and how to suck up the legs and release on descent. But I think some of the guys that you see going much bigger and doing spins must be using a pretty damn sticky wax in addition to having better skills.

I made my own blend of sticky wax and klister, which is a super gooey warm weather xc ski wax, but I bet there is a better product. Mine doesn't seem to last very long - water is around 50f and max temp in my car top carrier is around 80f and it seems to be thinning itself out when it warms up.

What do you know? If people are using something super sticky what are the ins and outs of keeping sand, kelp and pets from being constantly goobed to the board? How often do you apply it and how does it deal with different temperatures?

There's this glue they put on European " handballs " that I bet would stick like crazy. Collect sand too.

Maybe if you're real nice this year your mom will buy you some footstaps for Xmas. Then you can REALLY jump !

This is not ideal...it does some weird things. I ended up making my own recipe that worked quite well. I bet it would be even better i colder water.
I have experimented with quite a lot of different things...the best by far is kiting in lots of wind.

If you are just out to buy someone elses wax..bubble gum gu is the best.

...and the guys that does the spins doen't use anything but practice and some semi-sticky wax.

Punt is pretty good too. But in warm weather it gets a bit slidey.

In light winds it is just that much harder to do.

Sticky (punt) wax is what aided Airton to win the Tarifa Strapless Freestyle Pro event last year. Using punt wax is sort of cheating in my book since it's almost the same as having foot straps. I lost out to two individuals both using punt wax in a strapless comp last year. Damn you punt wax!!!

the secret is a very light board - i guess wax is lighter than deck pads but wax sucks in colder water - actually wax just sucks full stop on a kiteboard - unless you love a bit of groin strain

A really light board makes heaps of difference, so does punt. Its ridiculous help but can be awful stuff. Gets all over everything and is only good for a short while, then its just a dirty mess that ruins the rest of your wax job. I keep a little around for special occasions. The key is not to use too much. It can make footwork weird. Too sticky. But in the air and through any kind of chaos its pretty cool.

Cool thanks guys.

I guess I'm going to have to try it out for a few years before I come to any conclusions about the ethics of using it.
