8kt is good enough for hydrofoiling, the ocean is as flat as a lake during most of summertime.

You mean the most hot air??
Visit NZ if possible. Sure Wellington is windy, but skip the city, the water features at Taranaki, words pale, some things are best experienced.

I guess if you don't have to work during daytime you can get around 150 twintip sessions and including hydrofoil around 250-300 days a year. Winters are relatively mild but require full winter gear, occasionally it does get cold and you can go ice skating or go on a snowboarding/ski trip to the alps.
When you say "full winter gear" what exactly kind of gear are you talking about? My winter suit is a 3/2 (no booties/gloves)
Booties/gloves/cap and 5/4 suit. I have a drysuit for winter.

FL is sooo light, its a winter kiting destination def not year round.

8 kts? Find a flat water sport or something else to do if its less than 15 kts man. Hell I only like 15-22kts for teaching, 23+ is when I like to kite.
so you kite like 5 days a year?

No I have been chasing wind for abit, focusing on high wind destinations, been kiting 3-4 days per week on avg. Physical limitations of being 37 stop me from kiting more, knees in particular start to weaken if I do more than 10hrs per week. THere are strong winds out there - go to them!

I used to windsurf at Bird Island Basin, but heard that you can't kite there. Where do you kite in Corpus? Gulf side? In the bay?
