Top spots in western Sicily

Postby klamo » Fri Sep 02, 2016 12:40 pm

dear community,

in 2 weeks I plan to go to Sicily for 4 days, I did basic google reasearch on schools and spots in this area, also looking and windguru/windfinder stats, these two spots appear to be most promising:
1, https://beta.windguru.cz/591155 - Marsala, Lo Stagnone, seems to have better media coverage and is more "well-known"
2, https://beta.windguru.cz/?s=49081 - Puzziteddu, has better wind forecast overall

They're pretty close to each other, but since I don't have much time to explore it all and I want to settle at one of these, I'd like to ask for your advice, which one is better for a guy who can go upwind and make turns without dropping into water and just wants to enjoy the ride in beginner-friendly location.

if you like flatwater, lo stagnone. if you like "waves" (summer) or WAVES (in winter) go puzziteddu. ;-)

Puzziteddu or Mazara for foils. Stagnone too shallow. Winds kinda unstable this season in Stagnone. But perfect flat is there.

I'll be there 15.9. - 18.9., the forecast looks grim for kiting, unfortunately...

You can completely forget windfinder / windguru for Sicily forecasts.
Check this local Italian site:
http://www.3bmeteo.com/meteo/sicilia/venti

It was perfect for the north and south-eastern coast of Sicily during my stay in May / June this year.

My experience was that the southwest of Sicily has by far the strongest and most consistent winds. The rest of this beautiful island is kind of fickle.
