How is the data accuracy? has anyone compared app results with woo/xensr sensors?
To users that have used the app - do results seem reasonable? All jumps get registered?
I just got this from Xensr a few minutes ago:
Xensr wrote:Yes, same algo behind the data. However, the measured height would be slightly different as its mounted in a different location from a board mounted sensor because of the actual measured height from launch to peak to landing. Very subtle differences. In testing, measuring from the same location, the Air and the Sessions App on an Apple Watch will deliver comparable results (within the margin of error)
This seems like a reasonable enough answer to me. Some might ask what the “margin of error” actually is, but not a show stopper for me.

I was also quite impressed at the responsiveness of Xensr.

Bought my Series 2 today. Was going to get the Woo 2 but for the same price I think the watch is a much smarter purchase.

Presume you mean Apple watch...a Woo without GPS would be a difficult sell...

Apple watch series 1 = no GPS

Series 2 = GPS

Series 3 = GPS, altimeter, cellular option.

Wow! That makes it a remarkably pointless motion tracker don't you think? So you get no data about where you went, how fast you went, maximum speed etc - just a record of jumps and nothing else? Well I never!

Apple Watch Series 3

Postby OzBungy » Mon Nov 27, 2017 4:13 am

I am intending to buy an Apple Watch Series 3 GPS + Cellular. The plan is to have it as a safety device. I want to do longer coastal runs and it would be good to be able to call for assistance if I get stuck somewhere (ie. run out of wind and have to land and call someone to pick me up), or to call in emergency services if I need to be rescued. It will also allow the people at home to see where I am.

I have various satellite trackers and emergency beacons but they're not convenient for every day use and don't offer the level of communication I would get from a cellular Apple watch.

I have a few questions:
-is the sport band robust enough to hang on during most kiteboarding crashes?
-is the velcro sports loop a better option?
-after a session I would like to download the GPS track and see where I went and analyse the speed, distance etc. I assume I need an app to do that. Any suggestions as to what would be a good app for that?

LOL The sessions guys are gonna kill everyone with their free app. :jump:

I use the nike band. But I also run long sleeves so its kinda protected by my suit. if I didn't do that I think i would secure it with some tape. else get a different better band with an actual clasp.

get the sessions app. really. jumps speed gps distance maps airtime heart rate and best is calories burned so you know your getting fit while sending it! we need to get the maps to be used in strava or Google maps or something for better analysis. Hey xenser guy - you paying attention? :D
