Apple Watch Series 2...

I am thinking of getting the new one and I am wondering if anyone has gotten a chance to use it while kiting? I can see a lot of potential for tracking sessions, airtime, and fitness benefits while kiting. If anyone has an aptitude for coding, it would seem like a pretty good niche to get an app out there that more or less lets the Apple Watch take the place of several pieces of equipment (gps tracker, music player, jump tracker, heart rate monitor etc.)

I don't use any of that stuff at the moment, but if I could have all of that stuff in one sleek gadget on my wrist, I might just be willing to shell out the money for one. What do you all think?

Aloha

Right now I use the Tom Tom but at least one has failed with water ingress kiting. I pulled the trigger on a watch 2 so when it arrives I will let you know . Battery life seems to be the biggest issue . The Tom Tom will do 8-10 hrs but much less if the HRM is on . It allows u to disable it . I don't know if watch 2 will

Could be an interesting device this now with the GPS and waterproofing (although warranty is still void for water damage), what's particularly interesting is that one of the chief designers of Apple is now with Go Pro. So we may see some collaboration or mirroring of the apple intuitiveness into Go Pro products. I'll take my time though before buying one and see what the reviews are like as the first gen was a pretty poor device.

The apple watch 2 is water resistant to 5 atm / 50m according ISO 22810:2010. This means, it's nowhere fit for kiting. A watch fit for kiting has to be rated 2 classes higher (20 atm / 200m). The water pressure with splash on speed impact is pretty impressive, that's why.

Waterproof????????? 5atm and 50m is a f#$king joke. More trendy geek wear from Apple. Forget it for kitesurfing.

Is the warranty really void if there is water intrusion?

I've been wearing the original watch kiting, since the day it was released. So has my wife. Tim Cook said he wore his in the shower on the original release day. Works for me.
