There is pretty good kiting about an hour outside of DC on the Chesapeake Bay. There is very good kiting 3 hours away at Assateague Island or Dewey Beach. There is world class kiting about 6 hours away at Cape Hatteras.

Having lived in DC and the Outer Banks back in the day, it's well worth the 5 hour drive to get to Coastal Carolina. But as the other poster mentioned do watch your speed....the sheriff,s dont mess around.

I'm an experienced wakeboarder and sport kite flyer and want to try kitesurfing. I've never tried it, but I have a feeling I'd be able to catch on rather quickly and know I'd love it. I want to have a basic understanding before I buy all the gear. Any idea where/who I can take a lesson within a couple hours of DC? Any recommendation are appreciated!
