BRM C.5 in waves

Postby aeberl » Wed Oct 12, 2016 8:02 pm

I am a very happy 9m C2 user, exclusively in waves, up to double overhead in side/off conditions on a common 6' thruster.
For those light wind days and smaller waves I am about to pull the trigger on a 13m BRM C.5. Since I have no chance to testfly one, how does it compare to the 12m C2?

I have the both the 12 and 13.5 and they both fly well. Just make sure you have an appropriately hard leading edge and you will be good to go. I happily flew the 14.5 and 17m C2's in the surf with no dramas.

The 13.5 is certainly more powerful than the 12. Due to the extra size and thinner leading edge.

The 9m C2 starts being fun at about 16 kntos. Will the 13.5m be overpowered at that windspeed? Are 4.5m2 difference in area too much? Is there sufficient overlap in the windrange of these kites?

At 100kg, I would be fine on the 13.5.
