Survey for an electric skateboard

Postby tallakt » Thu Oct 13, 2016 7:59 am

Hi! I am currently a student and entrepeneur working on a new kind of electric skateboard. I am a kiteboarder myself and I hope that the board will appeal to other boardriders. The board will be different than other offerings - as you might guess by looking through the questions.

The survey is on https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/33W8JJD

I greatly appreciate any responses. There are 10 questions in total.

Thanks!

Something like a boosted board that Casey Neistat is always riding?

Sorry, the questions aren't really relevant in the way you claim.
If I were going to drop coin right now on an eBoard it would be the Boosted. How does your design improve on theirs?

Hi. Yeah in some ways like the boosted board and so many others (ELWING being the most current)

My focus is mainly on the trucks. I guess my 'electric drive' part will not be the selling point, rather the 'feel' of the ride, and the fact that I am not going to have a remote.

Please note this is a preliminary survey, and I'm still just prototyping... I don't have all the answers yet, and also I might have to patent some of it before sharing here. Wish I could share more though. The 'hoverboard' story scares the *** out of me.

We would have to assume that in some remote future, the 'Tallak's' board would be as popular as Boosted is now, with similar brand recognition

Yeah... there are many nice options. I can only say mine will be a bit different. For the one wheel I'm not too keen on something that I would have to balance continuously. I would like an effortless ride... I haven't tried that one though, only the hoverboards. It was a fun ride, but not something I would use on a daily basis

Any hint on how it will be 'different'

Check the Evolve GT (my board). Leaves the boost board in its dust.

Is this kinda what you are talking about designing: http://www.leiftech.com ?

They've taken a Freeboard, http://freebord.com and mounted and electric motor.

Haven't tried either, but it definitely looks like fun. Anyone tried either of these and able to talk about how similar it is to kiting in waves?

The Evolve GT looks sick. $2k for an electric skateboard, holy shit.

One of the challenges with the freeboard is having to climb hills, since there is no chair lift. Kinda kills the endless wave feel. Most electric skateboards max out at a 20% grade. Looking for something that climbs hills and yet is light enough to strap on my back on the descent with the freeboard.

you need to try a onewheel before you sink too much time and effort into your project.
