I'm 72kg & ride the 5'3 Evo & just use a smaller kite.
Wow! 159lbs - and the 5'3" works well for you? In what conditions? Have you ridden a smaller Evo previously?

Don't know if this helps but I am 69kg and I ride the 4'10'' Evo. Seems to work well for me and I'm not sure that I would want to go larger but there again I haven't tried an Evo in a larger size.

I'm about 80kg - so ~15% heavier than you. So I'm still thinking the 5'1" is the better choice for me.

I've actually ridden the 4'10" in 18-20kn wind - and it worked well - but I also want the board to work well in lighter wind 12-15kn.

I have a 5'3" and am 160ish. Wish I had a 5'1" even for paddle surfing it.

I primarily got the 5'3 to paddle surf but after a while its become the only board I have used for kiting also.
No, I have not ridden a smaller Evo - so maybe I don't know what I'm missing.
I use 10 & 7m kites & 5'3 Evo & the
Conditions at my local (Cotton Tree river mouth) are,
Wind: 13-25 knots
Surf: 1-5 ft

Well, if the 5'3" works for you in that range of conditions with your 8kg lighter weight - then the 5'1" should be totally A-OK for me at 80kg!!

And I'll be using only for kitesurfing - no paddle surfing.

Any recommendations for fins for the Evo 5'1?

I really like the Futures "Roberts" (M) as thrusters as well as quads - depending on the conditions. They´re actually depicted in the pic of mmac above!
I also like the Futures "JohnJohn" Alpha (M), thrusters only.
Don´t chose too much area, the Evo shoots upwind anyway, even with rather small fins.

Hallo everyone,
I am 165cm and 73 kg and I rode so far a Pro Whip csc north 5.2 very very funny for strapless freestyle. I have also a 5.8 pro wam for strong Wind and bigger waves. I want to replace my Pro Whip with one of FireWire products. I kitesurf in Italy so choppy and as I said I need a bord for strapless freestyle. I am an intermediate ride so jumps but not yet 360. What would you suggest? Vanguarda, evo or vader? Thanks a lot Simone
