I'm always curious about guys like Plummet who seem to post every day and kite with the same frequency and now, it comes to pass, is married and has three kids.

All seemingly well equipped.

What's your day job that allows this amount of "recreational time".

Do not answer if it's either the lottery or a crusty fund.
Life is busy as f*** man. busy as f***!
I don't kite every day. Usually once during the weekend and once during the week. But sometimes more. it helps that i'm 2mins from the beach and can have my lunch hour at any time. I've also work some alternative hours. Sometimes early sometimes late. Often I work through lunch and leave early. I also can work from home. Quite often I wake up early 5am and punt an hour or so of work before the family wakes up. Theres lots of really quick sessions! Plus I do my biking later at night or really early on the weekend.

Hey plummet. Do you still only have the one kite and board combo? If so how has it been holding up over the years? Feasible quiver?

I am thinking of trying a season with simplified gear. Been selling off kites and boards that I don’t use. I’m think a 9m would be great on foil in light to mederate wind, surfboard in medium wind, tt medium to high wind. I enjoy all three disciplines so why not. Thoughts?

Not sure I understand the idea here?

Unless you are a student with no money and only a bike, why not have a couple of kites to cover the sweetspots better?

And price will be the same, as if you got one kite it has to be replaced twice as often, as when you got two?

With two you have sweetspots, instead of riding at the very limits, or missing a size.

I like how you think. five kites is even better, you replace them five times less often! ;-)

I replace my 14m once every two years and my 10m once every 5 years, the 7m never gets replaced :-(

Are you guys posting about riding in 45 knots really sure about the actual wind speed?

I can understand how people might give wildly inaccurate estimates in light wind.

But in my experience, 35 knots is very very windy, and 45 knots is well into tropical storm conditions.

Don’t forget that the power of the wind increases with the square of velocity….

Tillmann’s example is claiming that the usable upper end is literally over 10 times more power than the usable lower end.

Short Answer no!.... In truth i never only had one kite. I had 4 but only used one.

From then to now. I still have and use the my home made hydrofoil pictured. The mutant in the picture was stolen so I build mutant V3. I have a dedicated short hydrofoil board that stays bolted to the hydrofoil.

I primarily use the 8m hydrofoil up to mutant winds and then 8m from there. However do have 12m chrono, 10m edge, 6m reo and 4m uno.

Usage is probably 8m 80%, 10m 10% and the rest 10%.

Also I have faded back to primarily riding the mutant with occasional foil sessions.

Windfinder wind report said 14 to 40 kn during my session. My 7m Machine was so stable because it has 5 struts and I pumped it with 13 PSI. All i had to do was pulling my adjuster in the rainsqualls. The good low end of this board/kite combination is because the middle section of my board has no rocker at all.

By the way there is another advantage to use only one size. Very often the different sizes of one model have different characteristics. For example, the 8m Machine has a higher AR than the 7m: 4:1 resp. 3.75:1. So the 8m has a better hangtime but turns slower. They feel totally different.

The one kite many board quiver is interesting... I'd be embarrassed to name out the amount of gear I have now..... But in the last year I have tried to kite as much as I possibly could 🤙 I estimate I will be around 160 sessions by the end of the year. I have kept track of the sessions and gear I have used..... My 9m Drifter is the magic wand.... Foil from 10 knots and then onto surfboard after that..... I could ride a TT but meh..... I have 9, 7 & 5ms though..... If the surf is decent I want the right kite.

The Kitefoil is great.... I didn't have one for a few months and I missed it.... I sold mine and was waiting on one that got stuck in a container..... Guess where 😂
