Most Comfortable Harness

Postby kitegirls » Fri Dec 30, 2016 6:24 am

What is the best, most comfortable waist harness on the market that stays down/rides up the least?

That will be different for each individual. I like the Manera Exo as it does not squeeze the ribs and stays put pretty well. Mate of me hates it though as it rides up on his body shape.

I had the Prolimit predator for a few years.
I currently use the Ion Apex select, and find the harness very comfortable and stays down. Straps are easy to tighten/snug around the waist.
Apex is less likely to ride high, although I prefer not having the harness too tight as I want it to rotate a little when toe riding for waves.

Dakine shorts are the most comfortable harness for me if you'd consider that. It doesn't actually feel like a seat harness.

Sorry but there is no such thing. It is different for every body shape and riding style.
You just have to try them.

Are there any waist harnesses that don't destroy your skin? I'm a bit tired of wearing rash guards in the summer with my Mystic. Without one I literally bleed on my sides :( most comfortable harness on the market but shreds your skin, what a shame

That's the correct answer.

I will say that after trying different waist harnesses they all hurt my back in the end. Best one was the Ion Select but still hurt and could ride up. So the answer was a Dakine Fusion seat. Actually the hook is a little higher than the Nitrous and Ion B2 trunk style which is a good thing for me, the position is closer to a waist height. Very comfortable and I can ride all day without back pain. I feel like I have much more freedom of movement too. I ride toeside a lot and with the J Bar it works great whether boosting or riding waves.

2 cents.

This is a fashion lead subject, for most a waist harness is not suitable due to the rider being soft in the middle and not having a rock solid core.

I changed from a fashionable waist to an ION B2 several years ago and have recently bought a 2017 model. They are simply the best I have experience in 17 years of Kitesurfing yet they still look cool due to the integrated shorts.

With a seat you can hold more power and you sessions will be longer as you don't suffer with abdominal fatigue which importantly affects ability to pop.

Just try a friends briefly, a little strange at first as the hook is lower but you very soon get used to it.

Let us know how you get on?
