Hello guys!
I'm a beginner and I have a 12mt CatalystV1(2016), I'm choosing another smaller Catalyst size between 9mq and 8mq, wich you think is the better combination?
I will use them in Porto Pollo Sardinia a pretty windy place with commonly winds between 15 and 30 knts, I'm 80kg and I have a small Groove 500 LW board 140*44 and a Bronq 135*41
thank you!

If you're not going out above 30 knots I would go for the 9m - at 80+ kgs on a 135x41 Bronq you should be fine.

Go with the 9m, 8m/12m is to big of a gap IMO, especially for a beginner..

2m gap is best. 3m gap ok 4m too big.
So 12,10,8 would be ideal
12,9 workable.
Or buy 12,8 with a view to adding a 10 later

Go for the 9m. 3m gap is natural for modern bridled kites, as they have large wind ranges. 4m gap is doable but requires alot more skill.

12/9/6 has been a classic quiver since the dawn of kiteboarding.
12m is likely the most sold kite size the world over.
9m is the size that traditionally gets the most R&D as companies do most of that work in windy locations. Usually the money size in any model's range.
And 6m is about as small as most reasonable riders need.
3m gaps works better than ever with the range you get from most modern kites.
You'll likely wear through your first 12 by the time you feel the need for a 6.
13 years in, my big kite is still a 12 and my small is a 6. For some reason there are 5 kites in between! Definitely excess. My most use kite last year was the 9.

It can. There are lots of options, but so far you have been given the rule of thumb.

You can go with bigger gaps with bigger size kites too, since the wind is exponentially less powerful. Most common quivers around here are 14-10 or 12-9. Add an 18 and a 7 if you want to be totally covered
