uh-uh here comes the new paranoid speculation thread.

Remember before you comment that:
It isn't a human right to compete in KOTA
It is a contest organized by a private entity based on subjective judgments.
It is an awesome competition that displays some of the best kiters in the world doing their wild shit for our viewing pleasure.

I understand the riders who want to compete in KOTA and the ones who don't want.
Lots of money and lots of risk involved.
Gotta choose what's best for you

nothing to speculate about, do not put it in another daylight as it was ment too...that's just "paranoid"

he was on the list and was "replaced" ...?

So I assume he must be injured or even does not want to take the risks anymore, but before assuming...I am just wondering what happened, and maybe Marc might answer himself, so it is cleared.

I think it is pretty normal, that someone who follows one during his carreer, is wondering why the guy who he is following is not competing although he was on the list..

Do not look for more behind the question :nono:

8 billion dollar company puts on a comp where you are at high risk of being knocked out and drowning, and in an 8ft+ swell they use a couple of ribs that are just not up to the job IMO . The big swell makes things real hard for sure - but everything should be considered - kiteboarding is a different sport in super high winds - as much as even some narcissistic wakestyle kiteboarders famers used to bang on about how uncool it is to be hooked in riding - they were busy riding in constant 20 knots in tropical locations doing 20 year old wakeboarding tricks riding odd 1m wide water based handrails with a nice soft landing off the rail...

Hope fully kiteboarding has moved on.

ah ok...sorry I guess I assumed a bit much...just last year there was a long thread about how unfair it was that one guy who really didn't at all qualify wasn't in the competition.

He's a heavyweight by kite standards. Like Shannon Best, when they throw even basic moves it just looks so awesome compared to smaller guys. I can understand passing. For him its just harder to match that height and magnitude without getting into the ridiculous spectrum of power and risk on re entry.

It's the bigger guys who go the highest, Nick Jacobsen, Gijs Wassenaar and Joshua Emanuel are all big guys. Kevin Langeree isn't a small guy either. It's because of the amount of power they can hold.
