Boracay end of the March what about the wind?

Postby kohsamui112 » Mon Feb 13, 2017 1:32 am

Hello,

I should arrive on Boracay / Philippines at the end of March acording to the stat is the end of the season ...
Concretely the other years what was the trend?
5 days kitable in the week with 17 knots?
(I would be with a 9/12 m bandit for 93kg)

Thanks in advance!

The wind is normally on but will usually drop down after lunch.
12m kite is pretty small, you could expect about 15kts in the mornings.
Not sure if you can get any info from the weather stations history, would be cool if it was possible to do your own search quires, here is the link to the 365 days history.

Last year was el nino year, it's normally less wind when it's el nino.

In March the wind is usually still on, but less so than earlier in the season. Like Atte says, I also recommend you bring bigger kites.

If you want to be sure to catch a good breeze it's good to know that the wind is usually strongest in the early morning.

Also see my boracay kitesurfing guide: https://boracaycompass.com/wind-and-kitesurfing/

(I live on Boracay and have started to write that guide, but please bear in mind it's not fully finished yet. But either way, it gives a good overview already and some good tips).

I haven't been to Mui Ne but most kiters that I meet in Boracay that have been there tell me they Enjoy Boracay a lot more.

You can rent kites in Boracay, not sure how long you're planning to stay and if that's within your budget though.

Alternatively in the Philippines you also have Kingfisher in Pagudpud. The wind is stronger there and there are big waves. It's kind of an adventure to get there though.

Don't go muine it is really a poor spot (choppy, gusty...)

Boracay is so much nicer with amazing sunset after kitesurf on whitebeach...

I been to Muine last year around january,
what i liked it was the possibility to have a long day of kite ( right now i am in now in Peru - Paracas and you have to wait 2 PM to kite...)

I think i will stick with Boracay because outside of the kite is nice beach and party...
If i can kite 4 days by week will be fine and at very worst rent a 15 meter...
