Just for info... Opposite the shopping mall is convenient. Wholefoods has good meals. Be careful with kite coffin or golf bags, they love to charge extra. Walking from shopping mall to kite beach is about 20mins. Not too far.

Closest hotels are also the cheapest. Maui Beach Hotel and Maui Seaside Hotel.

Get a VRBO in Paia or stay at the Paia Inn
http://paiainn.com/ would be another option. You can kite off of Baldwin Beach if you are intermediate.

IMHO I wouldn't stay at the Paia Inn. I would do VRBO in Paia somewhere, or even Haiku. You will need a car but you can do Aloha Rent A Car very inexpensively. Paia Inn is right smack in "downtown" Paia, right on the main street. Kuau, Sprecks, Paia by Baby Beach are way better any day of the week or year for that matter:)

Whats your $ # ?,The closest to kitebeach and cheapest ? would be hotels across from shopping ctr.Hotel on airport rd.near costco also .Best value but farthest Kihei condo but you need a car. You need a car for Paia ,Haiku Makawao,Paia has the night stuff ,Haiku has good food but not much night stuff.Cheap rooms in Hallimali? in a share b+b ,again you need a car. You could walk to kite beach from the first 3 places ,about 1 and 1/2 miles

Have not been to Mancora ,want to though. Two Dif . scenes if I'm correct. Life style and conditions. Maui is great tropical water, some amazing skill level on the water in multiple sports (SUP,Sup downwind, outrigger,ALL kite disciplines, etc.)all available .Might be a early swell ?by then and good wind, wave sailing rights . Mancora is more remote to get to ,somewhat desert like that i've seen .Looks like PSC in away. wave sailing lefts . Thing about Maui...at kite beach you can see next years gear, trends in gear being developed ,the next trick being developed ,gear being used as it was intended to be and if it matters all the stars .
