Core, are you insane? [resolved]

Postby deniska » Thu Apr 06, 2017 3:25 pm

update: [4/8/2017] The US Importer contacted me and explained the reasons behind pricing discrepancies on shipping and merchandise.
They apologised for inconvenience and promised to make it up to me by fulfilling my order free of charge.

After noticing some wear on one of the bridle lines and the pigtails on 12m xr4, I decided that it's time to replace them and contacted coreusa for quotes.
It turns out that it'll cost me roughly $80 to replace just 4 pigtails (WTF!).. ~$120 to replace all bridles!
Just for reference, Switch charges ~$40 for all bridles, shipped.
here is quote from core usa:
Here is the pricing:
E1+PF = $29.90
D1 = $19.90
A1 = $19.90
B2 = $19.90
International Express shipping is $29.
So, naturally 2 things popped up in my head:
1) why would a local dealer charge me arm and leg for international shipping?
2) famous german engineering : you can replace a pigtail w/o taking half of the bridle system with it.

OK, but CORE has online store, so I place an order and get 3 out of 4 items above for 86EU
1x Replacement bridle line set for CORE XR4 - D1 / 12.0 for 12,90 € each
1x Replacement bridle line set for CORE XR4 - E1+PF / 12.0 for 39,90 € each
1x Replacement bridle line set for CORE XR4 - A1 / 12.0 for 17,90 € each
Subtotal : 70,70 EUR
Tax : 13,68 EUR
Shipping : 15,00 EUR (Worldwide Economy)
Total : 85,70 EUR
So even with that tax, it looks like a better deal than what the local dealer offered me.
Now is the bummer:
2 hours later I get an email from Core Germany that they forwarded my order to CORE USA.
2 hours after that, a bill from CORE USA, charing me $29 for (international?) shipping and thus overcharging me by at least $10
1.0000 CORE XR4, 12m, bridle line set, D1 (2 piece) $12.90
1 CORE XR4, 12m, bridle line set, E1+PF (both sides) KZLE1PF513 $39.90
1 CORE XR4, 12m, bridle line set, A1 (2 piece) A1bridle $17.90
1.0000 Shipping $29.00 $29.00 $29.00
Subtotal $99.70 Non Taxable @ 0% $0.00 Total $99.70
Apparently this was done to better service me:
Hi Denis,
They transferred your order to us because all US orders go through our US headquarters to ensure quality customer service.
You are correct, we do not regularly stock the bridles here in the USA. It would be possible to have the 15 EUR shipping if we were to ship to Europe. However, the least expensive shipping option to the USA is FedEx International Express shipping, which is $29.
So if the local dealer does not stock parts, why would they transfer me to them and not just fulfill the order?
Why would CORE put 15EUR Worldwide economy if they cannot actually provide it?
How come I can get free shipping from China on $80 Tablet at Gearbest, but it cost $29 to ship a pair of shoelaces from Germany?
WTF, CORE?!!!

You used to have good customer service and now it's just random ripoff machine.
:angryfire:

Yes, it's always an option and, trust me, I spent plenty of time replacing bladders, changing lines, etc.
So at this point, it's like changing oil in the car- you can do it yourself but why bother.
What pissed me in this case, is not so much the listed pricing (CORE can list whatever prices they feel like and let the market decide) but rather the gypsy selling tactics by the local dealer (they slap you with some random high price and see if you bite, if not they are often willing to negotiate) and crappy service (I already paid them for the order in EUR, now they canceled the payment, sent it to CORE USE and billed me more for no apparent reason)

So you expect them to take a loss on the shipping or what? I'm not seeing what the problem is here.

You should be proud of the expensive Core kite you own. But just like if you own a Maserati, you will pay an arm and a leg for repairs.

Let this be a lesson to you, and as you said, Switch is much better for replacement parts. Switch would be my choice for my next quiver if they had a kite that suited me. Available parts, great prices, better recoup on the re-sale......Switch is a no brainer......now if they just made a Liquid Force "Wow" or Best "Kahoona" knock off??????

Of course not. It would be nice if local core distributor (CORE USA) had parts available in... USA, otherwise, what's the point of their presence?
Maybe you did not read my long rant.. The problem is that CORE took my order online, billing me $15EUR for shipping to my US address, then sent my order to US importer, who billed me additional $15 for international shipping, bumping my bill further. It seems that they still need to ship stuff from Germany, only now I have to fill yet another paypal request and pay more than already agreed. They also throw random quotes on the same part, depending on weather and time of the day and those quotes generally 2-3 times higher than of competitors.. Thus the subject line..

Refuse to order from local retailer, insist they honor the order via website.

yeah.. that's BS... Not sure how soon you need them but I'm going to England in 3 weeks... ship them to my address there and I'll mail them to you when i get back to the US? You can order through EU then without paying the private jet shipping charges...
