Wicked! So are you guys allowed to kite there? I guess not, reading your comment about the coast guard. Bummer, man, that just looks awesome!!!!

Nobody said you can't kite there (yet). Probably a spot best left for experienced riders though and even they might find it a bit challenging with the currents, etc. Either way, curious to hear some first hand info from somebody who's actually tried it.

Didn't an experienced kiter go missing in that area back in 2011? Last seen near Cape Point just 30 feet from shore in distress and without his kite and board?

Yes. "Action Jackson" lost his life there. Although he used poor judgment that day (off shore winds, crazy currents and "spits", etc.) and paid the ultimate price, that area often has lots of cross-currents and can get very dangerous in high winds and storms. And there are assorted "sea creatures" hanging around. One of the best surf fishing spots on the island. Having said all that, I intend to kite there first chance I get. Just got to exercise caution and use good judgment.
