Hi , I have an old Gath helmet I like ok, but it makes a ton of wind noise. I've even glued neoprene to inside of ear vents, and it's still really a problem.
I also have a more skate style Helmet, I've used for many years, but it felt too big and I was having neck problems after doing speedy falls on hydrofoil.
I like having protection over my ears, because I can avoid using earplugs. Without earflaps I have to use ear plugs because I've blown out my right ear drum before and it's sensitive.
So I'm looking at the newer Gath Convertible.
Anyone know if it makes wind noise?
Other good, light , tight fitting recommendation?

I've got one Tom and am really pleased with it. Like you I was suffering from neck ache when falling from foil using Mystic helmet. Having read on here about 'bucket effect' the Gath was recommended and it has stopped that problem. I do use ear plugs with mine in addition to the flaps, have dodgy ears and if I get water in them can take up to 2 weeks to clear, assuming I don't get infection. I have vents shut, occasionally notice wind noise, but usually not.

use same for kiting and in wake cable park, remove ear plugs when not kiting..
