Can you imagine the carnage that would take place if spots like Cabarete were all foils !
I wish! then the shorebreak would be all mine!

It would be awesome to see everyone else on a foil - waves and butterflats with no idiots all to myself

TT a dying breed? Not a chance. The TT is simply too versatile. Yes, it is the board of choice for beginners. But it's also the board that many experts continue to ride. I'm sure that many dedicated foilboard and directional riders will disagree, but an expert rider can go further and do more on a TT than on any other board. Granted, most TT riders never learn to use a TT to full potential, but the possibilities are there for the taking. FB and directionals add variety to the sport, but I can't see them ever replacing TT's. Just my 2 cents.

the only thing dying is us. so ride everything mix it up and play hard while you're still alive. Mixing it up makes you better at everything for example riding toeside on a hydrofoil has made me 10 times better at riding toeside on surfboard. kitelooping on a TT made me much better on a surfboard and hydrofoil . I still think TT are at least 5 to 1 overall because of conditions price and accesability.

You can't do as much on a foil. And with that big razor blade on the bottom it makes it more dangerous. And it doesn't look as cool. Have you ever seen a foiler doing any tricks besides jumping that looks smooth? You really can't with that big stick hanging off the bottom of your board. And to pay over 1000 dollars to have that thing on? No thanks, I'll stick to my TT riding.

you can do almost any trick on a foil that can be done on a TT and then some to fill in the ones you cant cross over and the freestyle begins at 8 to 10kts.

I'm pretty sure foils are eating away from the market share, and at the pace they grow they will eat up more. But what does it matter to board makers - in addition to TTs they will be making foil decks, wings, fuselages and masts too. The more the merrier.

It's harder to excel at something than be mediocre at a lot of things. Most riders go TT, strapless surfboard then foil reaching moderate competence at each but excelling at none. It takes more and more time and effort to make small improvements once you reach a certain level.
