Ya know, you do not have to go all the way up and all the way down when you pump. You can just stroke it in the middle of the pumps travel.
You don't get it. I can't bend DOWN far enough. The pump stops. It's not about only pumping halfway. Are you 6 foot tall or over?
Bury the pump 5" in the sand.
I do it for working also with my legs (bending the knees - certainly not my back :nono2:!!! You better keep your back straight when pumping )
Sometimes the slightest wrong move and your back is f$#!%d.
How many times you got a stiff back just drying by it with a towel? 8)

BTW they have 3 different size pumps too just FYI get the smaller one! One might consider another sport if pumping the kites a problem?if you been around kiting for many years the wmfg is big improvement over the earlier pumps,(although not perfect) we used to get with our kites back in the day, just get the smaller standard wmfg as I have one too, works great, but still prefer the taller/bigger volume one, much faster effortless inflation.or like previous poster said just bury the pump a few inches in the sand to desired elevation and go kite!

I remember this pump parody. It was bundled with a "premium brand" kite. Apparently, manufacturers realized what a joke it was, and switched to dual action pumps. Mind you, those next generation of pumps were quite short, about 11" tall. Later, pumps grew up to 14.5" but, honestly, I fail to notice any difference. And now, WMFG insist anything below 24" height is an inferior product? Especially, when many people started foiling and sized down from 12 m to 7-9?

This should work for the strutless cloud complainers - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00147OV ... ref=plSrch

ahh the venerable wanker pump
sorry. cylinder is 2x11" = not good enough. still valuable to have hose, base and leash.
I think 3x12" would be pretty sweet, for travel and for strutless, or anything under 12m really.
4x20" or whatever the big ones are is a bit ridiculous to me, but to each his own...

Pump the kite using the two strokes until the kite's wingtips come up...@1 or 2 PSI...then open up the valve..pump with down strokes only all the way to 6/7/8/or 9 PSI...piece of cake

Bury the pump base 5 inches "like was mentioned before" (if your are at beach with soft sand) if you want to pump using both strokes all the way to pressure

I use the open the valve method now......i used to bury the base...and i pump 17 sqm kites a lot...with extra tall pump

:pump: :jump:

I might have to try the bury the pump strategy. Never thought about that thanks for the hint! wmfg pump might be in the future for me after all.

I just bend over and pump with my arms, could care less about a back workout and don't want to look like an extra in a porno.

I'm short at 5'7 and only noticed a difference when it gets harder to pump. Which at that point I just do shorter strokes. I love mine it's by far the smoothest operating pump I've owned and definitely faster.
