Hi everyone, a little bit confused about two kinds of setting at the FX. Usually there is only options on the wing tip (A,B- bar preassure and turning fast).
The FX has more tunning option on the bridels - 3 modes (freeride, kiteloops and freestyle).
There is someone who knows the different and what every setting is changing?
Looking for information about it.
Hi Shutupjoy! Congrats on your new FX. It's a new design, so it will act and feel different even though you use the Kiteloop setting. I'll give the short version of the two different bridle tuning options.
Rear Bridle:
A vs B is simply leverage equation. The steering and power control is either closer to the fulcrum / pivot point (B setting) or further from the fulcrum (A setting). In the A setting, less force is required to pull on the bar because A is further from the fulcrum, but the bar must travel further to depower the kite, and has to be turned more to achieve the same actual turning as the B setting. In the B setting, more force is required to pull on the bar, however, the kite turns harder (faster) in B setting and achieves more depower with less bar travel because of this. You literally cannot turn the kite faster in A setting unless you are breaking the laws of physics, or you are unable to apply enough force to the bar in B setting.
Front Bridle:
Freeride vs. Kiteloop vs. Freestyle
Tuning the front bridle changes where the kite sits in the wind window. Freeride is further aft, and Freestyle is furthest fore. Freeride provides for a more immediate pull just by sheeting in the bar, but is more draggy and won't go upwind as well, although the FX moves around the window well using twin tip edge pressure. Freestyle provides for slack while airborn and unhooked making wakestyle and freestyle handle passes much easier. However, Freestyle mode requires more active flying of the kite to stay powered and reduces the overall pull of the kite. The Kiteloop setting is in between and most like the 2016/17 FX feel and is the best setting for kiteloops with a mix of power and speed to the zenith. The differences in these settings are quite subtle, but an advanced kiter will feel them and they do make a difference.
These two bridle adjustments are exclusive of each other. Think of the rear A/B as personal preference setting, while the Freeride/Kiteloop/Freestyle setting is generally geared toward riding style, but again is a guideline and there will be riders that like a particular setting regardless of what we call it and what type of riding they practice.
I hope this helps!!
