They are a lot of money, and the Elite ones don't come with spreader bars. That's an extra

I would like one, but too much $$ for me

The new heavy dual straps are nice improvement.

I tried one on at Surf Expo.

Other than new colors and the metal closure, I don't see what was changed?

I actually like the current closure system (pu-tube covered rope) as it is flexible and easy to attach with a tight harness.

I wonder if the new metal connection would also work going to the carbon spreader bar. I like the idea of going soft material to carbon better than metal. Be curious how they address that.

In any case, I'm really happy with my first model year harness and was glad to see they nailed it the first time. The only thing I think it was missing (2016) was a knife pocket, and they added that in 2017. (but in 2016 they put a pocket under the spreader bar pad).

In any case, it's a nice simple design. Love it. All the support I need. And it is light and easy to travel with. I actually have lower back issues and this is no worse, and probably better, than other harnesses I have used.

I like the old PU and strap better. Adjust the harness nice and tight, lock the straps, and then just slip the loop over the spreader. Easy and secure. Doesn't look like you can do that on the new model due to the depth of the hook on the spreader. ^^And yeah, metal loop on carbon hook sounds like a bad idea.

Really RE?!? You can't even be bothered to spell check your site? Makes me wonder about your attention to detail.

That huge hook is still prime to get caught on lines/things. Glad they switched to the dual strap system, that way I can put on an Ion or NP bar setups on it (best ones out there imo). The older system was clunky and not really that finished compared to the rest of the industry. Definitely a carryover from when Buckley was doing them all in his "garage"

2016 and 2017 spreader bars will not work with the 2018 harnesses.

Or with each other because of how the bar pad hooks to the harness itself to keep it from moving up. They changed the spacing where the tabs go. Of course, you can always rig up something yourself to make it work but should you have to? They are, however, still the most comfortable, supportive & best fitting harnesses I have ever used. Different body types will have different opinions.

The wear of the harnessis very high, especially for his high price.
