louise hadlow (Aarons mum) makes bags out of his old kites. I've got a laptop bag she made, it's very nice.

She is on facebook, not sure if it's a public profile? Google "sewn again recycled kite bags"

Not sure why he can't sell his kites 2nd hand? But she says he can't, so she tries to recycle them best she can.

I wouldn't buy anything made from an old kite canopy.
If the kite was really too old/worn to be useful, the material should be just about dead; you'll get a very fragile fabric out of it.

Old sails is a different story, as there are a lot thicker and tougher, and are usually chucked away because they are stretched, not because they tore to pieces too easily.

How about an older c-kite that has been in storage and barely used? Not really as fun to fly but might have plenty of life left in it.

Just my speculation , but I suspect that is probably part of the deal with the kite manufacturer.
I doubt he's buying them to begin with, so he probably doesn't care about recovering any money spent on them.
I think it's cool that they get recycled rather than go into the garbage.

I use the old kites as patch material.
Old Kite lines are great for household uses.

I came up with a great way to hang my kites using the bridles from an old kite, I will post some photos later.
