This setup allows me to use the fireball to connect directly to the ring without the need for the bottom metal part as previously posted.
Thanks - I have also thought about not using the lower part - the fireball - and connecting the safety release to a ring as you show (but on a slider rope). I would keep the fireball connection on the spreader bar as well as the rope slider, and think this gives several advantages such as it being very simple, and allowing to attach the fireball without changing bars or harness. My only hesitation is with sand getting into the safety release mechanism since there will no longer be a cover on the lower part. Have you had any issues with this?
I added a slider rope with a 1” welded stainless steel ring to my Fireball spreader bar. I used 3/16” dyneema. The spreader bar had 1/8” holes at the upper edge so I drilled those out to 1/4” - this was the toughest part as the aluminum seemed very hard. Here is a pic!

I don't think the Fireball or similar setup will ever give you the true effect of a sliding harness. Seems to me that even though it flips from side to side like a slider the tug point is still fixed in the middle. A true slider moves that tug point more towards your hips which feels more natural and causes less twisting with your harness...IMO

I have a slider version too. Trying to figure out what I like better. Good thing on the Dakine bar I did not need to drill any holes. Simply looped around the ends. Works like a charm.

LOL - That explains it! It looks like aluminum, but glad to know it is stainless.

The NP one is aluminum, much lighter weight, but only works with a 40mm webbing. If you are in the US you can get it for nothing, but without the pad it works well on seat harness only
