Couldnt agree more guys. I wish we had more events like kota and megaloop challange. A dedicated airstyle events would be awesome too.

Aurelien megaloop with board off looks magical. Hope he will break rb king of air jury wall:) but what else we can imagine in with megaloop technique, late mg back roll with board off ? What else ? Double, triple megaloop ? What is your imagination and whishes ?

Why the big brands don't realise this (and continue to promote this specialised wakeboarding try-hard copycat) style as the pinnacle of the sport makes no sense to me. 

It makes no business sense and the number of kite sales worldwide year on year support this.

Yes tea, this is the biggest mistake they are doing. Saying it since years...they still don't get it.

Now they hype strapless freestyle, because it is a great show and the guys rock the beach...they do, but, again a niche and guess what airstylers would do...and way more.

Tired of talking to them, so looks like I will go forward and do my own Airstyle events...and then we shall see who was right and who was wrong...

Competitions can’t really do all that much for the image of the sport, and Kite companies are into sales, so they are limited to whatever the bean counters say. Their boss is the bank! So, they aim at the lowest common denominator... not the most sophisticated consumers!

Maybe strapless wave is not a hype, just a different medium. I’ve seen personalities blossom on wave boards more than on anything else. Ppl get looser & happier & cooler. Something about the looseness of the wave board... it’s an adventure.

Yeah, rocking the beach is kinda what it’s all about...

It’s not just a sport, it’s a passion...

It's amazing that guy can jump so high with all that weight...you know balls that big have to be heavy!

Is it just me, or is the jump at 1:03 using a bar stopper? I can't see it, but it looks like it never goes out when he takes his hands off.

Competitions and media exposure of these events are what make or break a sport, growth wise.

No shit Sherlock, just like every other damn sport!!!!. Those that play and are payed at the highest level have the most passion of all, because is bloody hard slog behind all the glamour, money and so called prestige. Kelly Slater/Fanning etc are the most passionate surfers on the planet and so to the next crop of superstars on the water.

But we continue to put the money and exposure into this tiny tiny TINY microcosm of the sport, spastic monkey try hard wakeboard crap that no one gives a rats ass about. This is the Main circuit for young professional riders and it shouldn't be.

although I am a fan of the freestyle Surfboard comps' and the like. But even that won't garner the same interest as King of the Air type competitions.

Media Exposure and money talk, the bullshit walks.... and no one gives a flying monkeys ass about the pretend wakeboard crap that is focussed on. Except those who do it and the few try hard wankers that talk about it like they can do it, but we know they can't.

I dont see why not, if talented ?

It is IMO a common misconception that you can not jump as high if you are heavier - simply not true...

Lighter dudes are usually stronger and more agile, relative to their weight yes - and more hangtime most often, but jump height is not really affected by weight IMO and experiences, nor in theory as you got more kinetic energy that can be converted to height
