Wave kiting with a Switchblade?

I am going to Cape Verde next month to wave kite. It is my first time wave riding, I have been hydrofoiling for last 3 years. I am planning to take my 7m en 9m Switchblade as I don't have a wave kite.

How good are Switchblades in the waves? Should I consider buying a Drifter instead?

From what i've seen, Cape Verde is side- and side-off kiting. I'd take the kite I know best. In your case the Swithblade. I don't own Switchblades, but my friends have been using them for years in waves (strapped and strapless) and swear my them for great depower and precision steering. They claim they can put the kite where they want, forget it and then concentrate on surfing the wave. Sounds like you'll be fine.
